Barcelona Eye Harry Kane as First-Choice Successor to Robert Lewandowski

Spanish giants Barcelona have reportedly made England captain Harry Kane their first-choice target to replace veteran striker Robert Lewandowski. The 37-year-old Pole’s contract at the Catalan club expires in June 2026, and the club appears set to move quickly to identify his long-term successor.

Kane, who joined Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023, has been in exceptional form—scoring 108 goals in 113 appearances for the German side since his arrival. He is contracted to Bayern until 2027, but a reported release clause of approximately £57 million (€65 million) could make a switch feasible.

Barcelona’s sporting management are said to view Kane as the ideal blend of experience, proven goalscoring ability and leadership — attributes they believe are necessary as Lewandowski enters the twilight of his career. That said, there are significant hurdles. Bayern Munich have expressed no desire to sell one of Europe’s top strikers, and Kane himself recently stated that he is “very happy” in Munich and not currently considering a move. Furthermore, Barcelona’s well-documented financial constraints mean any major transfer will require careful budgeting, plus possible player sales to satisfy registration rules and wage limits.

For Barcelona, securing Kane would not merely fill a vacancy — it would signal a bold statement of intent. It would mirror the club’s successful approach in 2022, when they signed Lewandowski from Bayern and reaffirmed their ambition on both domestic and European fronts.
