Former Chelsea Star Oscar Rushed to Hospital After Collapsing in Training

Former Chelsea and Brazil midfielder Oscar has been rushed to hospital after collapsing during a training session with São Paulo FC, amid concerns he suffered a cardiac issue.

According to reports in Brazil, the 34-year-old lost consciousness for around two minutes while using an exercise bike during routine fitness tests. Club medical staff and doctors from Einstein Hospital Israelita, who were supervising the session, immediately provided treatment before Oscar was transported by ambulance for further examination.

In a statement, São Paulo confirmed the incident and said the player is now in a stable condition under observation:

“During tests carried out on Tuesday morning at SuperCT, as part of the preparation for the 2026 pre-season, athlete Oscar presented an incident with cardiological changes. He was promptly attended to by club professionals and the medical team from Einstein Hospital Israelita, who were present at the site. The player was then taken to hospital, where he is clinically stable and remains under observation for further tests to clarify the diagnosis.”

Oscar recently returned to Brazilian football after several years in China with Shanghai Port FC but has struggled with injuries since his comeback. It is now unclear whether the midfielder will be able to continue his playing career, with local reports suggesting retirement may be considered depending on medical results.

Fans and former teammates have sent messages of support as the football world awaits further updates on the player’s recovery. São Paulo said they will release additional information once the medical tests are completed.
